These watercolors were made at an Artist Residency on Flores Island which is in the archipelago of the Azores in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Flores is a very small island of 3500 people; my Great-Grandmother emigrated from there. I wanted to find the family history; and was curious to see how light reflected in a place surrounded by so much water, and how that related to consciousness. It was all light everywhere all at once. Flores is a farming island covered in grass and flowers. I found my extended family and a new way of perceiving reality.
