Handmark Symphony 2015-2018
It is ordinary to use one's hands; it seems to take longer to create, but only a brief moment to destroy. Some of the earliest recollections I have were witnessing violence, but also enjoying drawing around my hand. These memories resonate with consequences of actions and the interdependence of all life; the capacity to harm or to nurture is in the hands. As a contemplation of power and impermanence, each hand-mark is a unique remainder of personal responsibility. Empty areas, transparency, and luminosity evoke beauty. Beauty, I believe, inspires humanity to recognize its own basic goodness and connection to nature.
